Say a little prayer for me & you

Little Carmel's words chest has improved tremendously for the past weeks. His chatty words sometimes surprises me and I wonder when did he get those.

Last sun, we all make it a point to rest early cos next day is a start of the work week. As we finished our usual bedtime stories, we said our little prayers before we sleep or rather I will usually say out loud a simple prayer to God for protection and blessings. Yes, he understood "protect"! To our little surprises, for the first time, he prayed! In his soft and baby tone, he said "God to protect mummy, daddy, ye ye, nai nai......." on hearing that my jaw was wide open in amazement!

I thanked God for all his blessings that he gave us a healthy and happy boy.

An Unpleasant infection

Well I thought I could blog about happiness raising my little boy but this is first visit to KK A&E days ago..

Last Fri, Carmel became feverish and we skipped cell group so that he can rest early and recover from fever. Somehow we have never expected that he got some virus God knows from where (airborned, contacts gosh!) it was hell to begin with.. worries upon worries to keep his high fever down at one time i went up to 38.6 degree.. we decided to go to KK Children Clinic as our family doc was closed. Doc diagnosed as some virus and gave medicines to subside the fever.

3 days later, to my horror i discovered ulcers and blisters in his mouth! I suspected it cos he told me "pain pain" when I gave him food and he refused to eat anything... poor boy! We went back to KK for more consultation. Doc required him to do a blood test and my heart sank to the ocean! How I wish I am the one sufferring! Sigh but thankfully, it was a quick procedure and wasnt that scary as I would imagine a needle poking through his fragile, tiny arm. It was a prick on the index finger and the nurse tried to squeeze out as much blood sufficient to do the test.

Phew! What a relief that the results denied any serious life threatening diseases such as HFMD or Dengue..

Well this is part & parcel of being a mother, in sickness & in health.

Hi Void

Just realised that I haven't been blogging for the longest time and ensure that I have not leave this void, my writing ink begin to flow yet again :)

My darling has turned 2 yrs old on 12 Mar'09! It's yet another milestones and finally the terrible 2 is not "far far away" this has been his fav verse nowadays..

Daddy was not around cos he was swimming with Sharks, dolphins and Barcacuda on his birthday! (hey son, if you read this, pls punch your daddy)

I bought a lovely Cars cake and not forgetting more Cars as presents! It was daddy's idea to buy Mega blocks Cars (almost entire series of the Cars cartoon) and it was a disaster! The moment he swept it on the floor, the 3-piece blocks became such a "ruin"! Guess what, mummy has to fix it back each time he does that! So much about teaching him how to fix a puzzle...

Other than his abundant energy and playfulness, he has developed a flair for singing! He can sing quite a number of nursery songs such as twinkle twinkle stars, Mary had a little lambs, Little white boat, Bob the Builder .... This helps alot and he is also more vocal now and every opportunities he will ask "What's this" a curious young boy, all ready to learn.

Can't wait for his next surprising move!

Happy Moo-year

Yet another Chinese New Year has come and go. It was the 2nd CNY for Carmel (Hooray he's turning 2 this mar) and it was more fun bringing him around to visit relatives and friends cos he is more mobile and responsive! (but of cos the Ang pows too!) I'm sure he enjoys his bak kua, mandarin oranges and love letters just like me!

1st lesson @ Little Wonder

Hb and I decided it's time to send Carmel to playgroup to learn new things and develop his social being. Our church recently started a playgroup called Little Wonder and we thought why not send him there! It's perfect timing to start a new term in Jan'09!

Carmel had his 1st lesson on 3 Jan at 930am on a Sat morning. I woke up abit late at 8am to prepare him to get ready to lesson. We took a cab from woodlands to jalan bukit merah as i wasnt sure the location. We missed the turn and the taxi had to re-route for us to get to the EDB learning centre (PSA academy). But luckily we managed to reach 10mins before cls.

It was a temp location located the CHEC (city harvest education centre) for 3 mths before they moved to the perm place in Katong! Till then, i think it will be very far for us since we stayed in the north. Nonethless, we will then decide whether to continue with Little Wonder or find another place.

When we got there, it was a little classroom size room but decorated with children's craft and learning cards. Immediately I saw a farm corner and intro to Carmel. The theme for today's lesson is on zoo. Carmel was familiar with farm animals and immersed in playing with them.

'Lesson' began with a song introducing all the classmates and followed by more songs and movement focusing on the theme. We also did a Art craft together for the 1st time! It was a simple task using glue to stick wool to a picture of a sheep.
There's also a short tea time where they were served with biscuits and apple juice which was Carmel's favourite.

I'm glad that Carmel is bold and willing to learn new things. I look forward to every Sat's lesson to explore new things together with him!
