aNchored pump

D day has finally arrived.... well, not exactly.. for those nursing mums, you will truly understand how inconvenient to pump@ work and having to carry the heavy duty pump (twin electric, no joke) to and fro work. I'm using medela twin pump since the day i started breastfeeding Carmel. I pumped once at work during lunch time and below was a signage that I sticked onto the meeting room door so that Sylvia and I can pump in private. We were pumping consistently for almost 5 months at work. Finally, I decided to try to cut down the no of pump each day, from 3x to 1x and finally every few days.

27 Nov'07 is d day that I do not have to bring my pump to work anymore! I felt 'carefree' without a burden on my shoulders. Even though I'm still producing milk, I'm glad I no longer tied to the 3x per day pump schedule and to be able to sleep slightly longer, it has to be MY privilege to allow a mere 15 mins more of sleep every morning (wakes up at 6:30am each weekday!)

My emotions were of mixed feelings. Despite the tiredness, I do enjoy breastfeeding and every moment of close bonding with Carmel, is worth all the trouble!
I do encourage all mothers to breastfeed. It's a gift from God and from you to your precious little one!

Feng Shui or watz?!?!

Finally back to our home sweet home. After staying at in-laws hse for a wk, i would say we really missed home. Yet again, dennis was on biz trip to Nanjing/Shanghai and snoopy was sent to boarding. The fact that we missed our home, I missed sleeping through the nite or rather slightly longer hours of sleep at nite before dawn. Well, that nite while all of us tucked into bed, i had my wakeful moments all again as carmel woke up crying... my nightmare has begun..

Does anyone has any clues why babies cant sleep through the nite? Though I made xtra efforts to ensure that he's not too cold or hot or even hungry, he still woke up crying.

All I can say is, I'm gonna seize each nite at a time 8-{
(hey, 11:40pm... time to catch some sleep)

Ps. I'm not a believer of feng shui keke

Follow-up

Bgt carmel to see PD since he hasnt recover. After a long wait (abt 2hrs +) and still hasnt seen Dr E K Ong, I decided to go to another PD at TMC 3rd flr "Paediatric Clinic".

Less than 1 hr wait, it's our turn and my poor boy is hungry and whiny. Dr Ang checked him and found that there's lots of phelgm and prescribed anti-biotic and colds/cough med. We were a little concern that anti-biotic to be given at such young age? We were told to return after 5 days if he is still nt recover.

Let's pray and hope that he will recover soon and not develop into something more serious...

Bout o' flu

Carmel was down with mild flu yesterday and seen a GP near my in law house. This is the 1st time that he fell sick, though it was just mild running nose, we were quite worried. Last nite, both of us slept at the nxt room without aircon. Carmel has been waking up many nites ago, probably due to his blocked nose. To our surprise, he slept through the nite and we all had a good rest. ")

My 'warehouse' for milk

2 of my frens stopped pumping. Period. I constantly asked myself, 'How long do I intend to breastfeed? I can't go on forever..'

Next week, carmel will turn 6 mths and the so called 'ripe' age to try semi solids. I started giving him Heiz rice cereal this week. I mixed with breastmilk to give him. He's having 2 feeds per day and enjoys his cereal :P Well, I'm thankful for the sufficient supply of breast milk for him and no lack (was supply exceed demand) I have photo to prove :) well, just for remebrance sake ;) and put it in his journal for him to see how great his mummy was!

Baby steps

I can proudly say that Carmel has mastered the skills of flipping onto his tummy fairly well, from any directions, left or right. Thanks to all the opportunities we had to give him tummy time! Last Sun, he managed his first baby steps to crawl, struggling with all his mights to make that baby steps! We wait patiently for his many more bold steps...

tiMe is preCious

Carmel is getting cuter by each day. Would he be able to recognise us? Has he been progressing well in terms of intelligence and physical? Hehe, for physical, he's quite a big baby, weighing at 8.2kg at 5 mths :P

As the clock keeps ticking, I wonder whether I will be wise to try for No 2 next year where I will turn 33?

Can't help but I will turn to God for an answer...

Handphone resumed operation

I am a Sony Ericsson handphone user since day one. There are times when I meddled with other models, I still prefer Sony :P

Currently I am using W800i and upgraded to 1GB memory where I stored many photos and videos of my boy. When my hp 'died' recently, I was worried that I didnt back up the latest pics. Panic! So today, I went to a vendor and found out that my charger is spolit. I bought a OEM at $25 and the hp is now in "operation" :)

Now I can happily 'glazed' at my son's photos / videos when free.

Fleas infected!

Attack!!!

Fleas infected on snoopy! Both of us were up till 1am+ to remove s much fleas from his body. We took out easily 20s fleas (both female and male ones) and cleaned his cage.. talking about insufficient sleep, man!

I do admit that I have neglected snoopy since the day I became pregnant. I hope that I wont become an irresponsible dog owner :( Snoopy has been with me for more than 7 years so it's really heartache to let him go otherwise I really have to make an effort to care and play with him.

His first swim

Since we couldnt bring carmel for a swim on thurs, I was rather disappointed cos I thought maybe his daddy should be there for his 1st swim. Well, too bad!

So on Fri, the weather was perfect for a swim. Carmel also woke up early that day, could he knew that he was going for a swim too? I packed his swim suit and got ready to go. That day was our lucky day cos the moment we were downstairs, a cab alighted someone in front of us.

We are the 1st to reach Ning house. All came and we hurried to the pool, hoping to avoid the mid noon sun.

The water was quite cold at first and I gently dipped him into the water hoping not to scare him. He felt abit agitated due to the coldness so I dropped the idea of swimming with him. This was just an experience for him to play with water.

After swim, we have a mass bathing session and ordered KFC for lunch. What a memorable day and we all look forward to another babies gathering.

Nai Nai's Birthday

Nai Nai's birtday falls on 9 Aug - National Day. As usual, it was a family affairs to dine and celebrate her birthday. Tis day was special as Carmel joins the celebration for the 1st time :)

We went to Mount Safar - Pioneer Spring Restaurant for Tim Sum. We supposed to go for a swim before lunch, however the weather was not so good as it was raining the last nite. Hopefully tomorrow, I can bring carmel for swim at Ning house.

After lunch, we went vivo city and bought a chocolate cake at Sweet Secrets for Nai Nai. Went home to watch NDP and cake cutting.

Singapore's Birthday

Tomorrow is Singapore's 42th birthday. I never celebrate National Day but this year, I kinda look forward to it. Firstly, it's my mil's birthday. She will be 57 years old tomorrow. She's a great help to take care of carmel and I'm so grateful for everything that she has done for us.

Hope that tomorrow's weather will be sunshine as we will be bringing him for swimming. I think I'm more eager to look forward to public holidays so that I can spend time with him and I'm taking leave on Fri to enjoy the super long weekends...

His 1st Car Float

At lunch, I went to scout for a float for him as we will be bringing him to swim this week! I wonder how he will react? Judging from his daily bathing, I think he loves to play with water.

Hope the day will be a memorable one for him as well as us :P

His first fruit

He first tasted his first fruit last weekend. My mil inquistively offered him a plum to suck and he loves it! Even to the extend that when we took it away, he cried for more! This boy is really like mummy, loves all types of fruits :)

I also tried to brush his gums for the 1st time (though my mil has started to let him get used to brushing), he could have mistaken it for a spoon something else that he can chew on. The moment I took it away, he yearned for more and cried out loud. What a gesture!

I really look forward to more 'first' with him! This Fri will bring him for his first swim at my friend's condo. There will be 3 more babies (or princess) and hope it will turn out to be another memorable event! Tsk Tsk

preCious weeKends

In the past, weekends to me were to laze around the house, MJ time and bathe snoopy. I would wake up ard late morning and have breakfast with hb.

But now, wkend means play time and bonding with my son.He usually wakes up at 7am+ and he will greet me with a big smile :)
that's the moment!

Later on, I will be bringing him to visit grandpa, it's the 1st time since he's borned and I'm sure he will greet his great grandpa with the usual, captivating big smile :P

His new passport

Finally I collected my son's passport today!

It was such a delay cos the day I submitted his application sometime in Mar'07 via online, his application was rejected due to image size too large. Thereafter, it was such a hassle!

We have to go personally to ICA to resubmit the photo. It was a long wait at the ICA esp on Sat. No carpark, long and multiple queues... 1st to queue for instant photo and queue to submit photo.

Before our turn to take photo, I wondered how can they could take his photo upright? Cos he is still too wobby to sit. It was then I found out the magic bumbo seat :P
He sat there, pretty firm and next day, I rented one for him :)

The photo turned out very nice! He's such a handsome boy (see photo to envy :P) and we have his 1st passport. How lovely!

We have booked a holiday to Bali on 26 Dec, it would be great to let him experience taking aeroplane.. lucky him. By then, he will be 9 mos ...

Tarzan

My silly boy literally turned into a "tarzan" last nite torning away his buttons on his PJ! I woke up around 1am+ to check on him and realised that his buttons were unbuttoned, revealing his tiny body. My immediate thought was "What happened?" Does he really felt so warm that he has to "unbutton" his own PJ?" Afraid that he might catch a cold, I buttoned his PJ and went back to sleep.

Then again, I was up around 4am and saw his buttons were off again! I was quite mad and ran downstairs to get him another T-shirt so that he wont unbutton again. So, my little tarzan was happy and slept soundly after I changed him.. where else I have yet again, a disturbed sleep. I stayed awake for a short while cos after running up and down the stairs. I told myself I need to get to sleep as I would have a mind blowing board meeting tomorrow morning!

2:30pm - As I was happily blogging, my board meeting has finally ended.

Well rested

Last nite was a well rested nite. For the 1st time, carmel didnt wake up for milk!

I woke up around 3am+ and found my son sleeping soundly. Usually he will wake up a few times, either for milk or to shift his body. This mean that I have one twin peak crashing onto me!! Being lazy to wake up to pump, (which I havent done that after my one mth confinement), I turned my son towards me and gladly offered my breasts to him :) hehee Naturally, he started to nimble and woa lah, began to suck... so there I was, lying and falling back to sleep while my son tended to my engorged breasts.

I continued my dreamland....

Blogger, blog

I'm inspired!

Today, my fren sent me her blog link where she blogged about her 4-mth old daughter, Sophie!
I always wanted to start a blog during my pregnancy, Haiz... now my son, carmel is coming to 5mths!

So, cyber, here I am. I guess partly bec I wanted to have a journal for my son. You see, I have been complaining to hb that we seldom take pics for him!! and they grew so quickly...
so, this will be a good way to remember him!

Ever since I took on the motherhood role, it has been an enjoyable yet tiring process.. cos daily, we have to bring carmel to in-laws house and fetch him back at night! Man, havent been sleeping through the nitez since this little being came into our life.. so hope I can maintain a current yet interesting blog...

Here I Am.. lostz in the cyberspace...

Hello cyberspace...

Here I come...

Our prince was borned

Our prince was borned at Thomson Medical Centre

Date : 12 Mar 2007
Birth Weight : 3.1kg
Length : 48cm
12 Mar 2007 - Morning

After rested in bed for 2 days due to water retention on my feet, I went for the followup checkup. I was 37wks+ and with no clue at all, my gynae told me to go for c-section that day! That's bec I told him that baby's movement was less and he said beta not take any risk!

Luckily, just days before, I packed my hospital bag into our car and hb went to do the necessary paperwork while I was at the monitor ward.

I took a quick bath and changed into a robe while I waited for my gynae. Soon after, I start to have mild contraction. It was 2:30pm+, Dr Yeo came and to his surprise, he said I wasnt dilate and will prepare me for c-section at 3:30pm.

We were so excited and we prayed for smooth delivery. At 4:07pm, our son was borned!
